简介性器官的清洁工作在性生活前显得尤为重要。女性阴道有自洁作用，故女性内生殖器是无菌的。但是要注意外阴的清洁。清洗时要注意大小阴唇和阴蒂附近，最后从上而下清洗肛门。男性在排尿和射精后，从膀胱括约肌到阴茎头之间仍会残留一些余液，这些流出体外的余液
性器官的清洁工作在性生活前显得尤为重要。女性阴道有自洁作用，故女性内生殖器是无菌的。但是要注意外阴的清洁。清洗时要注意大小阴唇和阴蒂附近，最后从上而下清洗肛门。男性在排尿和射精后，从膀胱括约肌到阴茎头之间仍会残留一些余液，这些流出体外的余液便会污染内裤和皮肤；阴囊和腹股沟经常接触和摩擦，泌汗也比较多。这样，汗液、皮脂腺分泌物，残余的尿液、精液等废物在阴部积累多了，时间长了，便会形成潮湿发臭的污垢，细菌在此回大量而迅速地繁殖，极易使那里的皮肤发生感染。如果不认真清洗，性生活时会把阴茎或阴道口的污物带到阴道内从而造成感染。实际上，有很多宫颈糜烂的妇女都是性生活不洁造成的。其中多数是不卫生的丈夫造成的。
因此，无论男女，在每次性生活之前，有条件的要洗个澡，无此条件的也要坚持每日洗阴部一次。特别是折皱部位。男性外生殖器的清洗除了擦洗阴茎和阴囊表面外，还应将包皮往上翻，暴露冠状沟，用肥皂和水清洗干净。
性交后，如精力允许，最好各自清洗外生殖器，提倡小便一次，因尿液有冲刷作用，有利于预防尿路感染。
